Stacey Jean Lane, 51, of Key West, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, at her residence in Key West. She was born on April 21, 1959, at Quantico, Va., to James Herbert and Marjorie J. (Van Liew) Lane.

Stacey graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in journalism. She was a member of Alpha Gama Delta. Stacey always had a dream of living in Australia, and that dream came true prior to moving to the Florida Keys in 1990.
She worked for the Monroe County Red Cross, and in public relations for Lower Keys Medical Center and Ghost Tours while residing in the Florida Keys.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Herbert Lane. Surviving is her mother, Marjorie Lane of Shawnee, Kansas; brother, Winter (Peggy Shandy) Lane of Olathe, Kansas; niece, Merritt Lane of Olathe; and aunt and uncle Frances and William McNabney. Stacey also leaves her lifetime friend for over 33 years and partner of five years, Wynn Steinkamp of Key West.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. A private family burial will take place in Key West City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Stacey to St. Paul's Episcopal Church or the Lower Keys Friends of Animals. The Dean-Lopez Funeral Home is entrusted with all funeral arrangements.
