When my Grandfather died, I was 6 years old. I don't remember a lot about him except he loved his flagpole with the American flag and his garden. He walked every day to Saugany Lake and took an early morning swim - no matter what the weather. He was quiet but kind and a hard worker all his life. He did all the driving - my Grandmother never learned how to drive. He was stubborn - my Grandmother use to call him a "stubborn Swede". He loved to eat and even though he ate a lot, he was always slim.
Update: According to my mother(Gottfred's daughter), Gottfred was actually called Pier Olson in Sweden and changed his name to Gottfred Wiberg when he came to this country. I am looking into this as I have never heard this story before....
