*The heroism and selflessness of fire professionals must always be honored and remembered.*

Robert Ryan Bebee was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on January 14, 1972, and passed away May 31, 2013 in Houston, Texas doing what he loved best.

Dedicated to his family and friends, he honorably served the Houston Fire Department for 11 years and served Jersey Village Fire Department for 6 years.

Robert was a longtime resident of Sagemont and a 1990 graduate of Dobie High School. After graduating from the police academy, Robert worked at Harris County Precinct 2 before joining the fire academy. He joined the Houston Fire Department on August 6, 2001, and served as a Firefighter/EMT and spent a majority of his career at Station 51. December 1, 2004, Robert joined The City of Jersey Village Fire Department sharing his time proudly with both families. He was promoted to Engineer Operator on December 27, 2007. Robert was admired by many fellow firefighters for his dedication and professionalism.

Robert was always willing to help anyone and any animal in need and never asked for anything in return.

Robert will be missed mostly by pets that he saved and loved like his own children, both dogs and cats.

The service celebrating Robert's life will be held at 10:30am Friday, June 7, 2013, at Grace Community Church, 14505 Gulf Freeway, Houston 77034.

***Engineer Operator EMT Robert Bebee, 41, of Station 51, died while battling a 5-alarm blaze in a motel near the Southwest Freeway at Hillcroft.

Bebee began his career with the Houston Fire Department in August of 2001 and in addition to Fire Station 51, has served out of Stations 37, 40, 10 and 48.

Houston's fire chief says the four firefighters who died fighting a motel fire today were looking for people they thought were still trapped in the burning building.

The five-alarm blaze began in the Bhojan Vegetarian Indian Cuisine restaurant, where "the majority of the fire was ... in the front," according to fire Capt. Ruy Lozano. It ended up spreading to the adjacent Southwest Inn, which is in the southwest part of Houston along the Southwest Freeway.

Terry Garrison says the firefighters "took the highest amount of risk possible" because they thought there were "civilians in the structure" when the roof collapsed. He says the firefighters "who were trying to save lives were lost."

It's the single worst loss of life for the 118-year-old Houston Fire Department.
