MOUNT VERNON - Jessie G. Reynolds, 94, went home to the Lord at 10:16 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, in Mount Vernon Countryside Manor. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Bethel Memorial Cemetery, with the Rev. Ron Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mount Vernon. Those attending are asked to gather at the cemetery as there will be no visitation. Hughey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

FACTS As a young woman, Jessie worked at the shoe factory on Perkins Avenue in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She later was a traveling insurance salesperson with her husband Jack. She lived in the Waltonville area and had a huge strawberry patch for several years. She later lived in Mt. Vernon. Jessie was a born again believer of Jesus Christ and active in her faith throughout her life. She attended Antioch Church for many years. She later was founding member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Temple where she remained an active member until failing health.
ABOUT OUR BELOVED Jessie G. Reynolds, 94, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois went home to the Lord at 10:16 P.M. on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon, Illinois with her family at her bedside. Jessie was born on Monday, February 3, 1919 in Jefferson County, Illinois the daughter of the late James A. and Clarrisa (Hampton) Tucker. She married Clarence Everett "Jack" Reynolds on March 9, 1937 and he preceded her in death after 50 years of marriage on January 8, 1987. She later married Carl Birkhead and he also preceded her in death. Surviving family members include her son: Reverend Ron Reynolds and wife Janie of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; stepdaughter: Carolyn Moore and husband Orval of Denver, Colorado; stepson: Richard Birkhead and wife Karen of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren: Mike Kash and wife Tricia of Belle Rive, Illinois, Tara Willis and husband Ryan of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Chris Reynolds and wife Lisa of Bonnie, Illinois, Tim Reynolds and wife Melissa of Waltonville, Illinois and Joseph "Jody" Reynolds and wife Tobey of Waltonville, Illinois; brother: Jimmy "J.A." Tucker and wife Jean of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; sister: Daphne Auxier of Belle Rive, Illinois; sisters-in-law: Phyllis Tucker of Dahlgren, Illinois and Rosemary Tucker of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; son-in-law: Bobby Kash of Ina, Illinois; 18 great grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; 1 step great grandchild; several nieces and nephews also survive. Her parents, husbands, daughter: Darlene Kash, two grandsons: Robert Dale Kash and Jon Nathan Reynolds, one sister: Vera Richardson and two brothers: Eudel and Don Tucker preceded her in death.
ARRANGEMENTS: GRAVESIDE SERVICES: will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Reverend Ron Reynolds will officiate. VISITATION: There will be no visitation held.
INTERMENT: Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. For those who wish, memorials may be given to Mt. Vernon Christian School and will be accepted at the funeral home, cemetery or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, Illinois 62864.
