Claude E. Webb

Date of Birth: Friday, January 21st, 1921

Date of Death: Saturday, May 15th, 2004

Obituary:

Surrounded by the voices of family singing him home, Claude Webb of Lewiston died Saturday, May 15, 2004, after a short illness. He was 83.

The memorial service is at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lewiston.

Claude Emmette Webb was born Jan. 21, 1921, in Reubens to Charles and Annie Shaull Webb.

Claude married the love of his life, Jeanne Sullivan April 20, 1941.

Claude entered the Army infantry in 1944 and served in the Philippines and Japan during World War II.

Claude was a farmer, cattleman and civic leader in the Reubens and Culdesac area. He served as chairman of the Culdesac School Board, was a Lapwai Road District commissioner, Grassman of the Year in 1970 and a charter member of the Nez Perce County Cattleman's Association. He loved horses and enjoyed riding and raised and raced Thoroughbred race horses with his son, Randy. After retirement, Claude and Jeanne moved to Lewiston.

He always had a new joke to tell and an infectious sense of humor. Music was an important part of his life, his rich singing voice and beautiful harmonies will not be forgotten. He was happiest when he was singing old favorites with family and friends. Claude and Jeanne also took pleasure in traveling, especially to Honolulu where they developed many deep friendships.

Claude was well known and liked by all who became acquainted with him during his 83 years. His sense of humor, warm affection for friends, devotion to family, slow manner and caring ways were all a part of what made him so special. He will be missed by many, but how lucky we are to have had him in our lives.

Claude is survived by his wife, Jeanne at their daughter's home in Lewiston; his son, Randy, of Spokane; daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Bruce Meacham of Lewiston; grandson Cody Meacham and his wife, Theresa; granddaughter Heather Fehrenbach and her husband, Jason; great-grandchildren Blythe Meacham, Cannon and Cashel Fehrenbach; and a brother, Byron, of Salem, Ore.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lee and George Webb; two sisters, Dorothy Hill and Virginia Symmes; and his parents.

Donations may be made to the North Idaho Children's Home, 419 22nd Ave., Lewiston, ID 83501.
