Timothy Tate
(February 25, 1947 - May 25, 2013)

A loving husband, father and grandfather, Timothy Alan Tate passed away peacefully on May 25, 2013 in St. George Utah, after a 16 year battle with Rheumatoid Arthritis.

He was the eldest child born to Howard and Carol Tate in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 25, 1947.

Words to describe Tim are: teacher, counselor, jokester, honest, loving, impatient, stubborn, funny, visionary, a tease and a creative genius.

Tim attended Highland High School where he studied Russian. In 1995, he placed first in the state DECA competition for sales demonstration, which earned him an educational trip to Chicago.

He joined the National Guard in 1966 where he earned a sharp shooter award, even though he has never owned a gun.

He later graduated with a BS degree in Business Management from the University of Utah.

He married the love of his life, Louise A. Olsen on December 20, 1968. They raised their four children on Moss Hill Drive in Bountiful, Utah.

Tim was an extremely hard worker and spent most of his career in marketing and sales for Fashion Cabinet Mfg. He joined them in 1978 doing direct sales from Bountiful to Brigham City after spending 10 years building his sales territory with Olympia Sales. His incredible integrity allowed him to bring 95% of his contractors with him to Fashion. By the early 80's, he was promoted into Dealer Sales covering many of the surrounding western states. He was an extremely talented kitchen designer. In 1993, he earned a 3rd place national kitchen design award from Kitchen Aid.

He took great pride in his community service, devoting more than 400 hours a year and holding many leadership positions. Starting at age 24, Tim spent 11 years as a proud member of the Jaycee's, where he improved the youth football program and established the first Bountiful Youth Track Club (later re-named Bountiful Flyers) both earning him a first place national award in youth assistance. At age 37 right up until his passing he was involved with the local, state and International Lions Clubs where he was always involved in several projects donating tons of his time and efforts to help those around him. He re-organized the operations of Bountiful's Turkey Shoot when he was the chairman. He built membership through programming by involving interesting speakers. He assisted state leaders to develop interesting state meetings and he trained regional district governors.

Tim loved his family. He especially loved to see the talents of his children and grandchildren. He would help them succeed by investing money and time into what they loved, whether it was singing, racing trucks or competing in sports. He loved taking the family to explore Lake Powell and teaching many children to swim in his pool. He especially enjoyed spending time with them in his St. George home. Tim always liked to go on excursions in his truck on the many dirt roads in Southern Utah.

He survived by his wife, Louise; children: Philip (Amber), Patrick (Krystal), Cynthia (Feriz) Shala; 6.89 grandchildren: Alec (19), Quinn (12), Tysten (12), Alexa (9), Ashton (8), Chelsea (7), and Vera (.89) who love him very much; and many friends and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, Howard C. Tate and son, Paul Daniel Tate.

Memorial services will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, June 1, 2013, at the Little America Hotel Ballroom, 500 S. Main Street, SLC.

Friends may visit family Friday, May 31, 2013 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Lindquist Bountiful Mortuary 727 N. 400 E.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to any Zions Bank in the name of Tim Tate with proceeds going to Utah Lions "Kids for Sight" to purchase a new eye scanner. This will be used to help meet the goal to scan every child in the state of Utah. This project will be the last to be developed through Tim's creativity and hard work. All the Utah Lions Clubs and the other organizations he involved, will make Tim's final project a huge success.
