Monument Beach - Gerald F. McCauley passed away on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, 2013. He was 84 years old. Gerald was born on July 19, 1928 to Lawrence and Martha (Hodge) McCauley. Mr. McCauley is survived by his wife, Reita (Burns) McCauley, three daughters; Kathleen Rubel, Theresa Brown, and Christine McCauley, a son, Mark McCauley, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons; Michael and Matthew McCauley. Gerald served his country with honor in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1945 until 1949, and the U.S. Air Force from 1949 until 1966. He served as Master Sergeant, and was a Flight Engineer, as well as a Nuclear Weapons Specialist. Jerry was an avid reader and a Civil War buff. He was also an expert handyman, and rarely met a project that could best his talents. Most importantly, Jerry was the head of his extended family, and it was rare that any major decision was made without his opinion or advice. His loss will be deeply felt. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 11:30 AM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to VFW, [email protected]/contribute or VFW Post # 5988 Aptucxet, 180 Shore Rd. Buzzards Bay, MA 02532.
