Mr. Turner died at his home after a long illness. He was a life long resident of Calhoun County. He served in World War II as a paratrooper and then called served in the Korean Conflict. After returning to Anniston, he purchased the former Hess Food Stores, that later turned into Food Mart #2 on the west side of Anniston, which he operated for 54 years, retiring in 2007.

He was also a member of Anniston's First Baptist Church at McClellan.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Elizabeth "Liz" Haynes Turner; son, Ronald G. Turner (LaJean), of Glencoe; three grandsons; three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Mae Turner; three sisters, Edna Clay of Anniston, Evelyn Love, of Oxford and Anna Lois Cole, of Weaver; brother, Jesse Turner Jr, of Oxford.
