Mr. Dimmock was the editor of the National Democrat & later an editor of the St. Louis Republican. He was the person primarily responsible for seeing that Reverend Lovejoy was reburied in his present burial grave (same cemetery) & was vital in the effort to erect a monument in Lovejoy's honor. Lovejoy was originally buried in secret & only William "Scotch" Johnson knew the location of the grave. Dimmock obtained the present burial plot from the heirs of Captain Hunter & had the remains moved there. He saw to the placement of the scroll on the grave & the building of the wall surrounding it.
