Opal Nixon Moore, age 94 of Carrollton, passed away Monday, September 19, 2016. She was born February 22, 1922 in Carroll County, Georgia to the late W. Brown Nixon and Ida Van Rigsby Nixon. She worked as a seamstress for Sewell Manufacturing Company for many years. Mrs. Moore was the oldest charter member of Roopville Road Baptist Church. During her time at Roopville Road, she served as the church’s first pianist for over 20 years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, of 60 years, William Thomas “W.T.” Moore; son, Bill Moore; two sons-in-law, Elton Powers and William “Bill” Yawn; and two brothers, Olin Nixon and Oscar Nixon. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Powers of Carrollton; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Ronald Farmer of Carrollton; five grandchildren, Kim Eason (Scott) of Carrollton, Lisa Brown (Barry) of Hoover, AL, Amy McDaniel (David) of Cartersville, GA, Lori Spence (Brian Tolbert) of Villa Rica, and Brandon Moore; five great grandchildren, Meghan and Tyler Chupp, Daniel and Elizabeth Eason, Mason Moore; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 4:00 PM from Roopville Road Baptist Church with Bro. Stephen Peeples and Scott Eason officiating. Her body will be placed in the church at 3:00 PM. Music will be rendered by Bryant Turner and the Roopville Road Baptist Church Choir. Interment will follow in Carrollton City Cemetery with Rev. Steve Swafford performing graveside service. Those serving as pallbearers will be Barry Brown, Brian Tolbert, Daniel Eason, Tyler Chupp, Kenneth Noles, and David McDaniel. Honorary pallbearers will be the Friendship II Sunday school class.
