In the Courier-Gazette, Feb. 20, 1894, "West Rockport" social news, p. 6, col. 3, there is mention that Alphonzo Oxton of San Simeon, San Louis Obispo, Cal is home after 29 years visiting his mother, brothers, and sister; it also states that Mary Oxton is confined to her bed with the grippe.
She died of consumption 19 Feb 1894 age 76 years 4 mos according to her death record. Her death was reported in the Courier-Gazette, on Feb. 27, 1894, "Deaths", p. 3, col. 5. So, clearly, her gravestone is inaccurate.
