He was born in New Haven, Conn., May 15, 1936 a son of Charles and Blanche Lovely Stevens.
Mr. Stevens was a peace-time veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He formerly worked at Stanley-Judd Co. for 30 years and then worked and retired as sign crew supervisor with the Florida Department of Transportation. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, the Southington Sportsman’s Association, AARP and was a former member of the Wallingford Spanish-American Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Ann Stevens of Middlebury, two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and James Ryan and Karyl and Kevin Stewart both of Wallingford, two brothers, Richard Stevens of Wallingford and James Stevens of Norridgewock, ME, two sisters, Dorothy Zaler of Yalesville and Barbara Canning of Wallingford, a sister-in-law, Margaret Stevens of Ft. Pierce, FL and 7 grandchildren, Benjamin J. Stevens U.S. Army- TX, Jason Stevens of Middlebury, Tara, Jaymie and James Donald (JD), Tyler Ryan all of Wallingford, Kevin R. Stewart, Jr. of Meriden. He was predeceased by a daughter, Donna Stevens and a brother, Charles F. Stevens, Jr.
