Sheila Rae Baxter of Boynton Beach, Florida, and Tipton, Indiana, passed away Tuesday May 28, 2013, at the home of her oldest daughter, surrounded by the love of her family, friends and those whose lives she has touched.
She was born on September 16th, 1937 to Arthur and Thelma Sorrell of Elwood, Indiana.
Previously married to Charles Baxter, she was a loving mother of her five children: Gwendolyn Wilburn (Tipton), Derek Baxter (Tipton), Mike Baxter (Converse), Chris Baxter (Hawley, MN) and Destini Nova (Seattle, WA); grandmother to 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
After divorcing, she moved to Florida where she lived with her best friend & sister-in-law Jean Baxter for 16 years. Always recognized by their many friends, by their smiles and laughter, the two were referred to as the Baxter Babes in their retirement community.
A service was held on May 29, at Rock Prairie Baptist Church, 421 North Ash Street, Tipton, Indiana. In celebration of her life, there was greeting from 4-6 pm and the service followed at 6:15 pm. Donations accepted by Rock Prairie Church on behalf of the flood victims of Tipton County. She was cremated.
