CC Guillet was born in Princess Anne, Sommerset County, Maryland in October of 1828 to Pierre and Mary Jane Guillet.
CC was the fourth of six children. His father died in New Orleans of yellow fever in 1837, and shortly after Mary Jane moved the family to Carroll County Missouri. In 1850 CC took to the Oregon trail in hopes of finding his share of the California gold rush. Unsuccessful, he returned to Carroll County and married Jane Ellen Cochran on 7/25/1852. Their first child, a daughter named Sarah Ann, was stillborn in 1854. Their 2nd child, James C. was born in 1855. In 1860 daughter Alicinda May was born, and in 1862 little Mary Jane was born.
During the civil war, CC fought with the Confederate army, and was held prisoner of war at Rock Island, IL. During his imprisonment a little girl named Elizzia C. was born, and died within 3 months. After his release CC felt much animosity toward his country of birth, and along with his brothers James Laffite, John Peter and their families set sail for South America. On this journey CC and Jane lost two of their children, Alicinda May (5 yrs. old) and Mary Jane (3 yrs. old). They returned once again to Carroll County with their first born son, James. Soon after returning to America in 1868, a son, Jesse Franklin was born to them. Daughter Allie Leone was born in 1871 and daughter Fannie M. in 1873. Fannie died in 1892 at the young age of 19. James died in 1899. He was only 49. Both Jesse and Allie lived to see old age. CC died on October 22nd 1912, and was burried in the Pleasant Park Cemetery. His wife Jane Ellen died four years later, and is burried at his side.
