Son of John Richards and Rebecca Moore. Enlisted on 7/19/1862 as a Private and mustered into "G" Co. 12th Indiana Infantry. He was Mustered Out on 6/6/1865. Promotions: 1st Sergt. David was the minister at Beech Grove Church. He married: Emily Davis in 1866, and Charlotte Davis in 1885 after Emily died.
