Army Staff Sgt Kisling was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (known as Night Stalkers), Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Daniel was a crew chief who died during a training exercise aboard a MH-60 Black Hawk helicopter. The U.S. military has said the cause of the crash is unclear, but there was no indication of enemy fire. Daniel joined the Army Reserves in June of 1992 after graduating from Neosho High School and in June of 1993 he entered active duty. His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal with numeral 2, Army Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Good Conduct Medal with 3 clasps, Joint Meritorious Unit Award with Oak Leaf Cluster, Non-commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with a numeral 2, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, Aircraft Crewman Badge and Parachutist Badge. Daniel was married to his high school sweetheart, Georgie, for 14 years. They had three children, ages 13, 10 and 3 and were expecting a fourth child in June. He was a good father; a good husband and he loved the Army. Daniel was eulogized as a fun-loving guy who pushed the Army's haircut and mustache regulations, but was so good at his job he was a crew chief poster child.
