Gerald E. Carreiro, 64, of Provincetown, died at his home on Jan. 14, 2009 following a long illness. He was the son of the late Edward and Eva (Cook) Carreiro. He was a life-long resident of Provincetown and graduated from Provincetown High School. Mr. Carreiro was the co-owner with his brother of Tips for Tops'n, a well-known Provincetown restaurant, started by his father, the late "Babe" Carreiro, in the 1950s. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a life-long member of St. Peter the Apostle Church. Mr. Carreiro worked diligently running and managing the family business but was most committed to his family and his faith. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Joyce (Crowers) Carreiro, whom he met while attending Bentley College in Boston; his two sons, Scott C. Carreiro, of Provincetown, and Gerald E. Jr., of Wellfleet; his four grandchildren, Ken, Jon, Jenna and Coty; and his brother, Joseph C. Carreiro, of Provincetown. He is also survived by several aunts and uncles, including Gordon and Beverly Ferreira of Provincetown. A funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Peter the Apostle Church, 11 Prince St., Provincetown, on Monday, Jan. 19, at 10 a.m. Visiting hours are Sunday from 3-6 pm with vigil prayers at 6:30 p.m. at the Gately-McHoul Funeral Home, 94 Harry Kemp Way, Provincetown.
