OBITUARY:

VALLEY - Mrs. Carolyn Gibbs, 80, of Valley died Monday, Aug. 8, 2011 at Bethany House in Opelika.

A celebration of life is planned for Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 2 p.m. at Langdale United Methodist Church in Valley with the Rev. Bruce Hamrick officiating.

Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Mrs. Gibbs is survived by two daughters, Alicia Land of Atlanta and Melanie Drawdy of Valley; four grandchildren, Johanna Routen of Montgomery, Hillary Benson of Valley, Carolyn Land of Los Angeles and G. K. Sessions of Austin, Texas; and one greatgrandchild, Jamie Turner of Chesapeake, Va.

Born May 27, 1931 in Langdale, Mrs. Gibbs was the daughter of the late Hugh and Marie Henderson Crosby. She was a member of Langdale United Methodist Church. Mrs. Gibbs was preceded in death by her husband, Lem Gibbs.

The family respectfully declines the honor of floral gifts and asks that memorials be made in her memory to the Barrel of Love at Langdale United Methodist Church, 6301 20th Ave., Valley, Ala.
