Andrew Frank "Andy" Naab, 89, of Spearville, died Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. He was born June 29, 1923, in rural Kinsley, to Andrew and Anna Ackerman Naab.

On Oct. 18, 1949, he married Rita Hain in Windthorst.

A farmer and stockman in the Spearville area for many years, Mr. Naab also worked as a carpenter and serviceman for Ross Heating and Plumbing. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

In addition to his wife, survivors include five daughters, Edie Kellogg of Aurora, Colo., Janice Castillo of Spearville, Lois Wilken of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Becky Stickney of Overland Park, and Lisa Hort of Garden City; two sons, Lester Naab of Littleton, Colo., and Randy Naab of Topeka; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Shook of California, and Virginia Naab of Dodge City; three stepsisters, Tillie Weltz of Wichita, Louise Schroeder of Nebraska, and Helen Lett of Wind Lake, Wis.; a half brother, Leonard Peintner of Springfield, Mo.; and a half sister, JoEllyn Lubbers of Dodge City.

He was preceded in death by two granddaughters; a brother, Bill; a half sister, Delores Ravenkamp; two stepbrothers, Oscar and Hugo Peintner; and two stepsisters, Martha Fuller and Dorothy Ambler.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Windthorst. Vigil service will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Windthorst with full military honors conducted. Visitation hours are noon to 4 p.m. today at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City.

Memorials are suggested to Windthorst Heritage or Manna House, in care of the funeral home.
