Obituary for Carol V. Tyler
(nee Erickson) - Of Flossmoor, formerly of Elwood, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side, Tuesday, May 28, 2013. Age 82.
Survived by her loving husband of 63 years Thomas Tyler; her only son Thomas (Jackie) Tyler Jr.; and her two grandsons whom she just adored Zachary Thomas and Jacob Grant Tyler all of New Lenox. Her sister Mary Jane (Robert "Denny") Burns and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by her parents Frederick Grant Erickson and Mary Jane (nee Williams) Erickson; a brother James Erickson; and a sister, Marjorie (Robert) Rowan.
A graduate of JTHS (Class of 1949), she received her BA in 1966 from North Central College, and her MS in 1971 from Southern Illinois University.
She retired from 20 years of teaching at Steger Jr. High in 1994, and previously taught at the Elwood Grade School during the 1960's, with her sister Mary Jane Burns.
Funeral services will be held from the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Rd., Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Interment Maple Hill Cemetery in Elwood. Visitation Friday from 3-8 PM.
