Husband of Hazel (Bassett) Dickson, Clem was born in Williamstown, Glengarry Co, Ontario. He worked on the Grand Trunk Pacific Railroad as a young man bringing rail service from Winnipeg to the Pacific Coast. He served with the Canadian Expeditionary Forces in France during WW I. After the war, he traveled to Springfield, Massachusetts where he worked mostly as a self-employed heating contractor.
