Celestine K. Meehan, 90, of Wilkes-Barre, died early Saturday morning at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, after being stricken ill at home.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Anna Mulroy Meehan. She was employed by the Scranton Diocese for 37 years, working at St. Francis Cabrini Church, Carverton; St. Patrick's Church, Olyphant; and last at St. Aloysius Church, Wilkes-Barre, retiring in 1983.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Wilkes-Barre.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas, Cyril and Edward.
Surviving are a niece, Mrs. Robert (Theresa) Hapeman, with whom she resided; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday from the Corcoran Funeral Home, 20 S. Main St., Plains, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. John's the Evangelist Church.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
