The Frederick Leader (Frederick, Oklahoma). Friday, January 20, 1911. Pg. 5.
IN MEMORIAM.
On Saturday mornig, January 14, 1911, between the hours of three and four o'clock, the death angel visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Alexander, at the tender age of seven years, two months and one week.
Leon had been confined to his bed for over a month with pneumonia. He endured his suffering patiently until death came to relieve him. Everything that loving hands could do was done, but God in his wisdom has seen fit to call him away. May he in his mercy comfort those who are left to mourn.
Leon was bright, happy child, loved by all who knew him. In his death the mother has lost her joy and comfort, the father his pride, the sister a kind, loving and affectionate brother. In school he will be greatly missed by his teacher. When the roll is called his place will be vacant, his voice will not answer. His playmates realize they have lost a kind and gentle companion. What a consolation it should be to the loved ones that their dear Leon lives beyond the grave, that today he is singing and rejoicing with the angels. "in that home not built with hands."
The remains the following evening were followed by a large concourse of freinds and sorrowing relatives to the Frederick cemetery, where Rev. Dickey conducted services and the body was laid to rest. Not even the cold fingers of Death itself could erase his beauty as he lay so sweetly and calmly in his coffin, when the friends and loved ones gazed upon him for their last time. May the sorrowing ones rest upon the promise of God.
