Richard, at the age of 74 years and 23 days. She came to Carroll county with her parents when a child. She was married to L.W. McCain, January 28, 1860. To this union seven children were born,

The husband and two have gone before her to the better land. One brother, S.W. Shirley of Carrollton and one sister, Mrs. Lyda Staffer, of Cottage Grove survive her. The five children are, Florence Young, Ellen Holman, Ida Bell Richards, B.F. McCain and W.H. McCain, all of this county. Mrs. McCain united with the U.B. Church about 25 years ago and was a consistent and faithful Christian to the end.

The funeral services were held March 27 and the body laid to rest at Enon Cemetery, beside her husband and to await the resurrection morn. Mrs. McCain was a faithful companion and a loving mother and a kind neighbor
