Anna Moskolis

SOUTH BEND - Anna Moskolis, 96, of South Bend, died Saturday morning in Kindred Hospital. She was born February 19, 1917, in Magna, Utah, to the late Sam and Andromati Gounaris.

On October 14, 1945, in Chicago, she married Michael Moskolis, who died in 1965.

Anna is survived by her daughter, Kathy St. John of Granger; son, Sam Moskolis of South Bend; and daughter-in-law, Susan Moskolis of Granger; and four grandchildren, Nathaniel, Alysia, Gabriel and Nicholas; and brother-in-law, Jim Zeinis of South Bend.

Anna was preceded in death by her son James in 2012, and granddaughter, Amelia Moskolis, in 1984. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Bertha Zeinis, Katherine "Kay" Morfettas, Bessie Paulos, and Sriro, Gus and George Gounaris.

Mrs. Moskolis retired from the Saint Joseph Public Library after 18 1/2 years of service, and will be remembered as a woman of gentle kindness & quiet grace who never uttered a harsh or critical word to or about anyone. She loved her work, read many books, and established lifelong friendships, especially with Mary Ann & Laura. Anna was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Andrew, the St. Andrew Good Samaritan Club, and had worked over 30 years at the annual Greek Festival.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013, in the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Andrew, 52455 N. Ironwood Road. Father George Konstantopoulous will officiate. Committal services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, May 29th, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. where a Trisagion prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Andrew. The family extends thanks to the excellent staff at Kindred Transitional care, especially Lindsey, Joan, Emma, Jacinta and Denford for the compassion and care our mother received. A special thanks to Gladys, Anna's wonderful roommate and Peggy, Anna's best friend. The family also thanks Hospice Care. Dear Ma, The greatest compliment anyone could ever give us is to say we remind them of you. We love you so much and will cherish your precious love and memories forever.
