Sandra L. "Sandy" (DePeyster) Shuster, 70, of Hastings, died peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital on Saturday after a brief illness. Sandra had many jobs in her life but most importantly she was a great mother and grandmother to her two boys. Sandra was loved by so many people throughout her life. She had a way about her that made everyone around smile and laugh. She will be missed by so many. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 42 years, Gerald Shuster; father, Wilbur DePeyster; brother, Roy DePeyster; sisters, Barbara Broton and Shirley DePeyster. Surviving are her beloved son, Gerald Shuster; daughter-in-law, Ashley Bingham and grandson, Austin Shuster all of Hastings, NY; as well as her mother, Mae Gmyr, of Massena, NY; brothers, Ronald (Rose) DePeyster of Baldwinsville, NY, Richard (Marie) Gmyr of Lake St Louis, MO; sisters, Susan Draper of Syracuse, NY, Janet Gmyr of Liverpool, NY, Deborah Gmyr of Massena, NY and Pamela Gmyr of Norfolk, NY; several nieces; nephews; cousins and her best friend of over 60 years, Karin Marani of Liverpool. Sandra and her family would like thank Dr. Difino and all their friends at Hematology/Oncology of CNY for all their caring love and support over the past few months. Funeral Services for family and friends will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 30th 2013 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse. The family would like to honor Sandy's wishes and invite everyone to the Hotel in Hastings for a special celebration of her life following the burial. Farone & Son Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
