He was a graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School.
He served in the US Army during World War II in the European Theatre.
He was a coal miner for Five Par Coal Mining and retired from Skamper, Hegins.
He was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins.
He was a former member of the Hegins Area Rotary.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Mae Deiter in 2005. He was also preceded in death by a sister Anna G Dunkle.
He is survived by a nephew Warren E Dunkle of Cullman, AL; and a brother in law Albert W Bloch of Hegins.
Funeral services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Warren Egebo officiating.
A viewing was held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial was made in St. John's Cemetery, Hegins.
