Earl E Deiter, age 91, of The Friendly Nursing Home, Pitman, formerly of Hegins passed away Friday, August 19, 2011 at The Friendly Nursing Home.

He was born on Thursday, January 29, 1920, in Hegins, a son of the late John E and Anna F Seig Deiter.

He was a graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School.

He served in the US Army during World War II in the European Theatre.

He was a coal miner for Five Par Coal Mining and retired from Skamper, Hegins.

He was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins.

He was a former member of the Hegins Area Rotary.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Mae Deiter in 2005. He was also preceded in death by a sister Anna G Dunkle.

He is survived by a nephew Warren E Dunkle of Cullman, AL; and a brother in law Albert W Bloch of Hegins.

Funeral services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Warren Egebo officiating.

A viewing was held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial was made in St. John's Cemetery, Hegins.
