Bobbie Jean (Gray) Lucas-Patterson, of Grottoes, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2013.

She was born on March 14, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Charles Bernard and Stella Mae Gray.

Bobbie Jean was a member of St. Georges Episcopal Church in Pine Grove. She was previously employed as a clerk at J. H. Eckard Distributors and Sunshine Shows in Harrisonburg and had worked at Alliance Corp. in Shenandoah, Big Meadows Wayside; Marvel Poultry and Grottoes Tastee Freeze. She was united in marriage on April 20, 1968 to Calvin Earl Patterson, who preceded her in death on July 5, 2006.

Surviving are seven children, David Robert Lucas, Jr. and wife Diana of Grottoes, Deborah Jean May and husband Kenneth of Elkton, Donna Jo Chandler of Grottoes and companion Clifford Shifflett of Elkton, Daniel Ray Lucas and wife Gloria of Grottoes, Dena Jane Nutty of Grottoes and companion Dave McClure of Luray, DeWayne Randolph Lucas and wife Sandra of Weyers Cave and Dyanna Joan Lam and husband Mark of Stanley; two sisters, Betty Lee Grimsley of Shenandoah and Shirley Ann Elliot of Richmond; a brother, Dixie Randolph Gray of Stanley. She is also survived by 17 Grandchildren, 34 Great Grandchildren and a best friend Dale Miller.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, four sisters, Hazel Lee Gray, Nellie Marie Collins, Eva Elizabeth Campbell, and Rhoda Mae Turner; four brothers: Aldine Walter Gray, Leon Franklin Gray, Charles Douglas Gray, and Glendon Wayne Gray, and a great granddaughter Sophia Elizabeth Mullen.

She was previously married to David Robert Lucas of Page County, Virginia from July 6, 1949 to January 26, 1968.

A funeral service will be held at Johnson Funeral Service in Grottoes at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 with Rev. James Kite officiating. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery.
