MILITARY SERVICE: He served in the C.S.A., enlisting in May 1862. His unit was Company,"I", 15th Infantry, known as the "Choctaw Guards". He was in the battle of Peach Tree Creek, and the Battle at Franklin. He was captured at Nashville and taken to Camp Douglas, where he remained for six months, or possible until the close of the war. This information taken from his pension application, and was in the notes from Laurie Jackson

Cenotaph

John Leander Bagwell is not buried in Shiloh Cemetery as some have listed. For some reason someone had Confederate Markers placed there. This Started because someone listed him there without any knowledge of where he was buried and put him in the same cemetery as his Father. This I know to be a fact because I discussed it with the person who put him in the wrong cemetery.
