Leroy David Lillie, 93, of Ames died of a heart ailment Tuesday at Green Hills Care Center. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at United Church of Christ Congregational, of which he was a member. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Mr. Lillie was born in Dakota City, Neb., and moved to Ames in 1954 after living in New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Germany, North Africa and France. He retired as a colonel in the Army Quartermaster Corps and was a member of Society of Mayflower Descendants, Henry Wolcott Society and Iowa Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. He was also a charter member of the Iowa Genealogical Society, past governor of the Mayflower Society and past commander of Ames American Legion Post.
Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Adams Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart of Iowa chapter Alzheimer's Disease Association.
