Evelyn Mae Meyer, age 94, of Monroeville, passed away early Monday morning, Sept. 7, 2020, at Adams Heritage in Monroeville.

Evelyn was born in Berne on Jan. 6, 1926, to Calvin and Leah (Steffen) Rauch. She married Roy C. Meyer in Vera Cruz on Apr. 10, 1944. He preceded her in death on Jan. 25, 2012, after 67 years of marriage.

Evelyn worked as a nurse’s aide at Wells Community Hospital and later served as a cook for many years for Bluffton Harrison Metropolitan School District. She retired from East Allen County Schools in Monroeville as the cafeteria manager. She was a member of East Liberty United Methodist Church in Monroeville and more than anything else, she enjoyed spending time with her family at family gatherings.

Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca Ann (Bill) Rhodes of Summerville, SC; two sons, Michael R. (Shirley) Meyer of Hoagland, and Timothy W. (Debra) Meyer of Ft. Wayne; a sister, Freda Lamott of Leo; along with 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by a son, Thomas C. Meyer; and four sisters, Geraldine Aschliman, Doris Jost, Garnett Martin, and infant Helen Rauch.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, Sept. 11, 2020, at 11:00 AM, at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton, with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Six Mile Cemetery in Bluffton.

Memorial donations in memory of Evelyn may be made to the organization of the donor’s choice.
