Also a noted Canadian stage actor Doyle had appeared on stage in several plays over 50 years. On June 3, 2005, Doyle was appearing in the role of 'Maurice' in "Beauty And The Beast", at the Huron County Playhouse in Grand Bend, Ontario, when he unexpectedly suffered a heart attack and died on stage at the age of 71.
