Marie P. Allison, 86, of New Lexington, Ohio died Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster, Ohio; daughter of John Palaich and Mary Orlich Palaich; wife of Ellsworth G. Allison.

Marie Allison

Marie Allison, 86, of New Lexington, died peacefully in Lancaster, OH on May 26th, 2013, in the comforting presence of family and friends. Her life and death were characterized by her independence, strength, courage, loyalty, grace, beauty, and her strong Catholic faith. Born August 13, 1926 in Washington, PA to John Palaich and Mary Orlich Palaich, Marie lived in Beaver Falls, PA before moving to New Lexington with her husband Ellsworth Allison in 1949. Their marriage was a strong and loving partnership of 38 years and resulted in two children, David and Susan. Marie continued to carry on an active and productive life in New Lexington after the loss of Ellsworth in 1985. She was a long-time teachers' aide in the New Lexington schools, where she nurtured and helped many students. She was passionate and faithful in her work for St. Rose Catholic Church, an enthusiastic card player, and an avid reader and golfer. Marie led an active life and developed many close and enduring friendships. Above all, she was a happy and optimistic person with a smile for everyone. Marie is survived by her son, David E. Allison of Overland Park, KS with his wife Rebecca; two grandchildren, Brian Dillard of New York, NY with his wife Erin, and Megan (née Dillard) Kapsimalis of Atlanta, GA with her husband Brendan; her brother John Palaich, and two sisters, Mary Jane Mangerie and Betty Salyards, all of Beaver Falls, PA. In addition to her parents, Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Ellsworth G. Allison in 1985; her daughter, Susan Dillard in 2002, and five of her sisters. The family wishes to offer special thanks to Pam Weiland and Shirley Anderson who provided special care and support to Marie over the past several years. We are all missing Marie greatly but so grateful to have been part of her life. Calling hours will be held from 4pm-7pm with Rosary at 7pm on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Saint Rose Catholic Church, Main and Water Streets, New Lexington, Ohio with Father James Csaszar and Father Daniel Dury as celebrants. Burial will be Community Gardens Cemetery, New Lexington, Ohio. Marie P. Allison, 86, of New Lexington, died peacefully in Lancaster, OH, on May 26, 2013. She was born August 13, 1926 in Washington, PA, the daughter of the late John and Mary Orlich Palaich. Marie is survived by her son and daughter - in - law, David E. and Rebecca Allison, KS; two grandchildren, Brian Dillard and his wife Erin of NY and Megan and her husband Brendan Kapsimalis, GA; her brother, John Palaich, and two sister, Mary Jane Mangerie and Betty Salyards, all of Beaver Falls. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband Ellsworth G. Allison; her daughter, Susan Dillard, and five sisters. Services will be held this morning in New Lexington, OH.
