Orval Vern Barber was born Sept. 2,
1927 in Lavinia, Iowa, the son of Jesse
and Jennie (Andrews) Barber. He attended
Rockwell City schools. He served with the
U.S. Air Force in the Philippines at the end
of World War II.
On Dec. 1, 1951 he was married to
Phyllis I. Zinn at Storm Lake.
He was an automotive mechanic and
owned and operated Barber's Sinclair and
Barber's Shell; he also worked at Brisbois
DX and later worked for Lake Electric
Supply, all of Storm Lake.
Stub was a member of the United
Methodist Church and the Izaak Walton
League, and he was an avid fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
a brother Wayne and by his brother-in-
law, Charlie Powell.
