Shadrach and Charlott (Johnson) Futrell joined other Futrell family members on Donaldson Creek, in then Christian County, Kentucky, in 1806.
Perrin's "History of Trigg County, Kentucky," 1884, indicated:
--(page 110): that Shadrach Futrell and neighbor James Thomas built the first commercial whiskey distillery, on Donaldson Creek, in that part of Christian County that became Trigg County in 1820. Perrin wrote that Futrell and Thomas soon developed a reputation for producing a very fine quality of liquor and that they ran the business for six or seven years with a fair amount of success.
--(page 111): that Shadrach Futrell was one of the first mechanics in the Donaldson Creek district.

[Note: Christian County, Kentucky tax lists and estate records indicate that Shadrach Futrell died in 1817. A cenotaph, that was erected in 2001, suggests that he died in 1818.
The original Shadrach Futrell family Bible does not give his date-of-death. The Commonwealth of Kentucky did not start keeping death records until 1852.]
