"Funeral services for Daniel Reider were held on Tuesday, Sept 11, 2001, at the Heritage Church in Odessa. Mr. Reider, who was 90 years old, died Thursday, Sept 6, 2001, in Kennewick, his home He had been a farmer in Lincoln, Adams and Franklin counties for 31 years and had lived for many years in the Marlin area. He was born Oct 10, 1910, in Adams County, the son of Fred and Katherine (Weber) Reider. He graduated from Ritzville High School in 1928. He married Helen Scheller, of Odessa, on June 30, 1935, at St Mathew Church in Odessa. In addition to his farming activities, he worked for the Lincoln County ASCS office for nine years. He was a federal crop adjuster. He was a member of the Heritage Church, the Washington Assoc. of Wheat Growers and the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia. He is survived by his wife Helen, at the home in Kennewick; two sons, Larry and Sandra Reider, of Bakersfield, CA; and Stan and Sandy Reider of Davenport; one daughter, Eileen and Gene Schermer of Aberdeen, WA; four grandchildren, Doug and Sharon Schermer, Kristin and Chris Bradshaw, Mikhail Reider-Gordon and husband Cortney and Susan Reider; 5 great grandchildren, Jane and Rachael Schermer, and Kyle Jason and Annie Bradshaw; numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Reider, and one sister, Matilda Hoff. The Rev Larry Snyder officiated at the funeral. Interment followed at Odessa Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were directed by Strate Funeral Home.
