John Greco, 87, of Boca Raton, FL, formerly of Weirton died suddenly on Sunday May 26, 2013.
Born on August 26, 1925 in Fairmont, WV, John was a son of the late Domenico and Michelina Finamore Greco. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Alex and Joseph Greco, and his first wife, Dorothea Mae Skinner Greco.
A Purple Heart Recipient, John served his country, in the Pacific Theatre with the United States Army during World War II.
After the War, Johnny moved to Weirton and joined his two brothers, Joseph and Victor in the family business, the Greco Plumbing and Heating Corporation located in Weirton, WV, where he worked as a job estimator, until his retirement.
After retiring, Johnny wintered in Florida and spent time at his camp in Moorefield, WV eventually becoming a full time resident of Boca Raton.
A well respected businessman, John was a proud member of the United Association for over 35 years. He was also a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Boca Raton; a board of director of the Patios Condominium Association of Boca Raton; the K of C 3734, BPOE 1801 and a former board member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 490.
Johnny enjoyed flying, fishing, hunting, golfing, swimming, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Helen Davenport Greco; four sons, John Ray (Bernadette) Greco of West Friendship MD, Christopher Greco of Morgantown, WV, David Ross Greco of Katy, TX and Dr. Eddie Greco (Nay) of Palm Dale, CA; a daughter , Lilaclare (Ron) Whitehair of Davis, WV; a step son, Michael Gray ; grandchildren, John Ross, Christopher, Maura, Ashley, Britttinee, and Gordon Greco, Dora (Marshall) Arbaugh, Matthew, and Angela Whitehair and a great granddaughter, Adalyn; many cousins nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 4-8 PM Friday, at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Saturday, at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton.
Rev. Fr. Manuel Gelido will preside.
Interment will follow, at Saint Paul's Cemetery, Weirton, WV
