Hans Jacob Frahm was the son of Jacob Martin Henry Frahm & Laura (Nannie) Stemmerman Frahm. He was the 4th of five children: Anna Margaretha (Ann) Calhoun, Marthalena (Lena) Sigler, Loretta N DePew, and one younger brother, Lawrence Henry Frahm.

He was born in Madison, SD and lived in Sioux Falls, SD for many years. He married Agnes Isabel Langley on March 20, 1930. They had 11 children together (Paul Hans, Jeanne Ann Husby Sneve, Carol Louise Masters, Judith Arlene Pieritz, Barbara Lee Monasky, James Arnold Frahm, Joan Agnes Allen, Janet Marie Bowermaster-Davis, John Allen, Linda Elaine Adamson Lamont & Mark Lawrence).

He worked at the Morrell meat packing plant first in Sioux Falls, then in Ottumwa, Iowa. He worked his way up from entry level to head of the by-products department. He was laid off when the company was sold, and then worked as a handyman in the Methodist Church in Ottumwa.

He loved music, his children and wife, and his church. He was a deacon at the First Christian Church in Ottumwa where most of his children were baptized and where some of them were married.

He died from small strokes that finally took him on April 17, 1978 in Ottumwa. He was cremated and his ashes scattered under his favorite weeping willow tree that he had planted in the front yard of 302 Albany where the family lived for many years.

He shares a headstone in the Ottumwa Cemetery with his wife, Agnes, next to his son, Dr. James Frahm. All were cremated.
