Gloria Ann Brackin Mason, 81, of Sheffield, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013, at home after an extended illness. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 28, 2013, from 5:00-7:00 P.M., at Spry-Williams Funeral Home on Helton Drive in Florence, Alabama. The funeral will be at Spry-Williams Funeral Home at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, with Reverends Tim Long and John Davis officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens in Florence, Alabama. Gloria was a native of Sheffield, Alabama, who graduated from Sheffield High School in 1950. She was a member of First Christian Church and the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class in Florence, Alabama. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Cypress Chapter 195. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed cooking, gardening, crossword puzzles, and reading. She spent many years working for Town and County Dress Shop, Wiggins Garden Center, Castner Knott, and Parisians. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dewey Peyton Brackin and Pauline Hayes Brackin, husband of 32 years, Walter F. Mason, Jr., and brothers, Billy Hayes Brackin and Leo Bruce Brackin. She is survived by her children Deborah Mason Hobbs (Dwayne) of Griffin, Georgia; Diane Mason Grice (Robert) of Florence, Alabama; and Walter F. "Bucky" Mason, III. (Pam) of Belton, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren Robyn Grice Russell (Leslie) of Florence, Alabama; Rebekah Grice Romine (Tyler) of Anniston, Alabama; Katie McMurtrie Wallace (Jonathan) of Tifton, Georgia; and Kimberly Mason of Belton, Texas; great grandchildren Benjamin White of Florence, Alabama, and Rebecca and Ema Simons of Belton, Texas; and her loving sister-in-law and best friend, Ruby Nell Brackin. Pallbearers will be Leslie Russell, Tyler Romine, Jonathan Wallace, Frank Wall, Ken Butler, Mike Lyle, and Robert Brackin. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Blake Edwards and David Crosby and the entire staff at Hospice of Tennessee Valley. The family would also like to thank and honor a special group of constant and devoted caregivers including: Vikki Storet, Sherry Adams, John Davis, Jeff Hornbuckle, and Minnie Winchester.
