Michele Polanski of Southport passed away on Sunday evening, May 26, 2013.
She was born in New York City, the daughter of John and Mary Baszak. After the early passing of her father, she went to Poland with her mother and beloved brother Frank. There she met and married her husband Roman. Upon the end of World War II, the family came to New York.
Michele retired from CBS, where she worked as an accountant and auditor. In 1989, she moved to Southport where she was known as "The Lady in the White Hat." She was 94 years old and didn't get a chance to finish using her driver's license, which expires a year hence.
Michele was pre-deceased by her husband Roman, her son Andrew and her brother Frank. She is survived by her son Chris; five grandchildren, Drew Yankowski, Kim Montgomery, Chris Polanski Jr., Tim and Cory Polanski; and two great-grandchildren, Maddie and Carly Montgomery.
A funeral mass will be held at noon Friday, May 31, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Southport.
