John William Bankhead 6/2/1918 ~ 5/3/2003 PROVIDENCE, UT - Husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend: titles well served by John William Bankhead who reluctantly passed from this mortal existence May 3, 2003.

"Jack" was born June 2, 1918 in Paradise, UT the son of John Obray and Esther Mary Ann Bankhead. Before reaching the age of 7 years he lost his father. He was reared to adulthood by his hardworking mother and stepfather, Joseph Holbrook Shaw.

He married Cleo Mainwaring Feb 5, 1945 in Fayetteville, NC just prior to leaving for overseas service in World War II. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple Sept 5, 1945. Their union has been blessed with two children and six grandchildren.

Jack never failed to extend his hand to others; he had a quick and hearty hello for all he met and a helping hand for all who he saw in need.

Jack is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Cleo; children, Patricia Ann Burton (Marvin Lynn, deceased), John William Bankhead, Jr. (Skarlet); six grandchildren, Tara Marie, Lucas William, Courtnee Nicole, Nikeeta Leigh, Grayson Keane, Britta Shiquille Bankhead; and sisters, Donna Hannon (Tom, deceased), Marie Chlarson (Lee), Peggy Jo Harris (Fred).

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather; sister, Norma Bickmore; and brother, Harold Bankhead. Services will be 12 noon Tues. May 6, 2003 Allen-Hall Mortuary Chapel, 34 E. Center St, where friends may call Mon. 6-8 p.m. and Tues. one hour prior to services. Interment, Providence Cemetery.
