W.D. "Bill" Lewis, 91, of Cottonwood, passed away May 20, 2013. He was born December 21, 1921 in DeRidder, Louisiana, the son of William and Dollie Lewis.

He was a graduate of schools in Louisiana and then served his country as a Corporal in the US Army during World War II. He served in the Battle of Ardennes ("The Battle of the Bulge") and in the European Theatre.

He was employed as retail store manager for A & P Market in El Centro, California. He was the former owner of the Lamplighter in El Centro, California and the Town Pump in Westmorland, California. Bill loved people and enjoyed entertaining wherever he was; whether in El Centro, Colorado or Arizona. He never met a stranger.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Elks Lodge, the Moose Lodge and the Shriners.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Lewis and sons Bill and Wayne.

He leaves his loving companion Nancy Jorgenson; son Dale Lewis (Mona) of Show Low, Arizona; a sister Earlene Ward of DeRidder, Louisiana; four grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held in Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro, California.
