I want you to know we are descended from strong pioneering stock.. Lizzie Sawyers had already taken her gr.daughter, (at Esther's death) Minah, to raise at the age of 18 months, but now Walker's wife passed and he asked to come home with six little motherless children. Lizzie was 72 years old. She told him to come home. She now had seven grandchildren to raise and she did it! She lived to age 91, the year Booker turned 20 years old. When I get to thinking my life is hard, I try to think of my great-grandmother taking in 7 children at the age of 72 and living to raise them all.
She raised her 7 children and 7 grand children, a total of 14 children. WHAT A WOMAN!
