"Bessie Grace (Holtz) Griffin, who lived most of her life in Coleman County, Texas passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the age of 87. She was the fourth daughter born to Amanda Elizabeth (Tomlinson) and John William Holtz on June 10, 1925 in Coleman County at the family home. She was a member of the Elm Street Coleman Church of Christ in Coleman.

"Grace had moved to LaVernia three years ago and enjoyed living in the country with youngest daughter, Debbie (Griffin) Bradshaw. Grace enjoyed her family and watching the PBR (professional bull riders) rodeo. Her faith, and family served her well during the last few years of her life as she fought a gallant battle against multiple myeloma.

"Grace is lovingly survived by three daughters, Shirley Brigandi of Coleman, Carol Sanders of Eden, and Debbie Bradshaw of LaVernia, 10 grandchildren: Chris and Beth Brigandi and family of Wylie, Texas, Nick and Tawnya Brigandi and family of Little Elm, Texas, Larry Singleton and children of Arlington, Texas, Thomas and Amy (Dobbins) Doherty and girls of Eula, Douglas and Shelly Busby and family of Abilene, Mike Sanders and Julie and family of San Angelo, Eric and Jenny Sanders and daughter of Eden, Tim and Irene Sanders and family of Sterling City, Todd and Leslie (Bradshaw) Phillips and family of Uvalde, and Jake and Inga Bradshaw and family of Stockdale, Texas.

"She is also survived by 23 great-grandchildren—Jacob Brigandi, Nicholas, Vincent, Anthony and Adam Brigandi, Stephen and Maddi Singleton, Lacey Kintz, and Amber Lee, Tyler and Kaila Busby, Jason and Megan (Sanders) Harrison and family of San Angelo, Andrue Sanders and Romana and Nyssa Rodriguez of San Angelo, Taylor Sanders of Eden, Kristen Garcia of Sterling City, Beau Sanders of Eden, Matthew, Victoria and Peyton Phillips of Uvalde, and Kailey and Eli Bradshaw of Stockdale.

"And two great-great-grandchildren, Hudson & Braelynn Grace Harrison of San Angelo.

"Grace survived a parent's worst nightmare three times as she buried her son, Douglas Griffin, killed in Vietnam, son Dwight Griffin, and daughter, Annette Dobbins and was preceded in death by her grand-daughter, Stacy Annette Singleton.

"Grace was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Hazel Field, and Helen Odessa Holtz and her husband Juddy Weldon Griffin (Grace and Juddy married June 25, 1941), and the last love of her life, Obed C. Fuller. She was preceded in death by her sons-in-law, Michael "Mike" Bradshaw and Roland "Ronnie" Sanders.

"Grace is also survived by five sisters, Dorothy Yates of Pensacola, Florida, Mary Brown of Austin, Texas, Fay and husband Jay Hall of Apalachin, New York, Mae White of Eastland, Texas and Pat and husband Kenneth Burnett of Eastland, and 3 brothers, John W. Holtz II and wife Dorcia (Meador) of Coleman, Olen and wife Nita (Feeler) Holtz of Abilene, and Robert L. and wife Lynna (Creel) Holtz of San Angelo, and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

"Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

"Visitation will be held Monday, May 27th from 4-6 p.m. at the Walker Funeral home.

"Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday May 28, 2013 at the Walker Funeral Home with Mr. Bob Martin, minister of Elm St. Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow at the Coleman City Cemetery."
