He was born in Jamestown on July 23, 1946, the son of Ellen (Ford) Nowicki of Ocala, FL and the late Charles A. Lewis.
He attended Cassadaga Valley Central School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal & Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Mr. Lewis worked as a truck driver for the former Dillenburg Trucking, Forestville, hauling steel, and also previously worked on the railroad, worked for the former Dunkirk Ice Cream for 15 years as a truck driver, operated heavy equipment for the late Albert Storer of Stockton, where he was known as "Dozer Dan" and helped build the main lodge at Cockaigne Ski Resort.
Mr. Lewis was a member of the South Dayton American Legion Post #1593, a member of the Pine Valley Rod & Gun Club, South Dayton and a lifetime member of the National Harley Davidson Group. He enjoyed RVing, traveling, collecting beanie babies, motorcycle riding and visiting with people.
Survivors include his wife Linda (Rose) Lewis, of South Dayton, whom he married July 13, 1968, in the Cherry Creek United Methodist Church; a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Arlinda J.) Crowell, of Dunkirk; a son, Chad D. Lewis of Cherry Creek; three sisters, Billie Moore, of Las Vegas, NV, Christine Sexton of Loveland, CO, Tracey Schneberger, of Ocklawaha, FL and a brother, Steven Lewis, of Ocala, FL. Also surviving are 2 grandchildren, Robert John Richter and Samantha Rose Richter, both of Dunkirk.
Besides his father he was predeceased by his sister, Sandra Mendert; and by a brother, Jonny Lewis.
There will be no visitation observed. Graveside Services will be held at a later date. Time and place to be announced.
