He was born February 14, 1928, in Charleston, to the late George Robert and Orpha Quinn Mullins.
Billie was also preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Anice E. "Sissy" Mullins; daughter, Shelia A. Mullins; son, Robert Lee Mullins; sisters, Ruby Campbell, Alice Lucille Robinette; and brothers, Cecil Ray Mullins, Robert E. Mullins Sr. and Robert Glen Mullins.
Bill was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict; a member of United Christian Church, Simmons Creek, Belle; retired life member of Laborers Union Local No. 1353; member of Malden Salinas Lodge No. 128, AF&AM; and a former member of the Charleston Scottish Rite Bodies.
Billie loved attending church and was one of the original members of the Hardee's Gang (Big Chimney) music players as a guitarist.
He is survived by his loving family, sons, Billie D. (Charlene) Mullins Jr. and Larry D. (the late Faye) Mullins Sr.; sisters, Phyllis Hunt of Belle, Mary Malcolm and Dolly Pittman, both of Charleston, and Patty Kay of Sissonville; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his caregivers at his residence, staff of Dunbar Center, staff of the E.R. at CAMC Memorial Hospital and 4th, 3rd and 2nd floors, Kanawha Co. Ambulance and the staff at Elk Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at United Christian Church, Simmons Creek Road, with Evangalist David Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park, London, with military rites by American Legion Post No. 61, Clendenin.
Family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
Arrangements are in the care of Elk Funeral Home, 2001 Pennsylvania Ave., Charleston.
