Al Joe McCarson, 87, of Clovis, NM died Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Plains Regional Medical Center. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017, 1:00 pm, at Portales Cemetery, Portales, NM. Pastor Furgus Tunnell will be officiating.
Al McCarson was born October 2, 1929 in Magazine, Arkansas, to Sam Henry McCarson and Isophina Elizabeth Kennedy McCarson. He served in the United States Navy 1950-1954, as Airman 1st class. On November 18, 1954, he married Betty June Hardisty in Clovis, NM. Al was an electrician and of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the local 611 in Albuquerque, IBW International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Clovis/Portales Elks Lodge #1244, the Masonic Lodge #25 AFE AM in Portales, and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 3280.

Survivors include: 2 daughters; Vicki (Monty) Wethington of Aztec, NM and Judy Logan of Farmington, NM, 2 sons; Frank (Tina) McCarson of Elko, NV and Brad McCarson of Clovis, NM, 8 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

He preceded in death by: his wife; Betty McCarson, his parents; Sam and Isophina McCarson, 3 brothers; Ben McCarson, Sam McCarson, and Ruel McCarson, 6 sisters; May Johnston, Pearl Parsons, Alene Parsons, Pauline Lockmiller, Imagene Williams, and Peggy Forrester, and a son; Gary McCarson.
