Macel G. Monroe, 84, of Parkersburg, died March 15, 2012 at her residence. She was born May 30, 1927 in Calhoun County, WV a daughter of the late Simon and Emma Cottrell Nicholas. She was a member of Summit Valley United Methodist Church, loved gardening and spending time with her family.

She is survived by two sons, Edward (Penny) Monroe, Jr. of Grand Junction, CO, Tommie A. (Kay) Monroe of Parkersburg; one daughter, Nancy L. (John) Lamp of Parkersburg; three grandchildren Nicole Keever of Gillette, WY, Dustin (Amanda McGrew) Lamp of Parkersburg, Cortney Morris of Gillette, WY; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Murl Nash of Canton, OH, Jean Rogers of Ballground, GA; and one brother, Denver Nicholas of Orma, OH.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Monroe, Sr.; three sisters, Delma Nicolas, Marie Taylor, Maxine Wilson and one brother, Ernest Nicholas.

Services will be Monday 11:00 am at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Joe Wallace officiating.

Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery North.

Visitation will be Sunday 5-8 pm at the funeral home.
