Ralph Hough was struck by lightning in the storm of July 16, 1903. He was instantly killed. The Houghs found Ralph kneeling beside the window. He was near the chimney and evidently had been watching the gathering storm when the bolt of lightning came down the chimney. The house caught fire and nearly burned to the ground.
