Enlisted at Camp Cheatham May 21, 1861. Wounded in the left shoulder at Fort Donelson and sent home before the Fort fell. Joined Co. C of Nixon's 48th TN. Inf and was elected third sergeant of that company. Returned to this command Dec 26, 1862, Present at the surrender May 1, 1865.

Civil War veteran inducted at Camp Cheatam 5/21/61 in "The Brown Guards" Comp F. 3rd TN Inf Regt. Wounded in left shoulder at Ft. Donelson and sent home before the
Fort fell. Joined Co. C of Nixon's 48th Tn Inf Regt and was elected third sergeant of that company returned to this command 12/26/62. Present at the surrender 5/1/65.
